Our section’s official journal is the Journal of Neuro-oncology which is a peer-reviewed medical journal with an impact factor of 4.506 and a publishing frequency of 15 times annually. Established in 1983, it is considered the oldest continuously published journal which is focused on Neuro-Oncology. It was originally published by Martinus Nijhoff Publishers. It is chiefly sponsored by the Tumor Section for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons and co-sponsored by the Society of British Neurological Surgeons, the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies Section of Neuro-Oncology, the Korean Neurosurgical Society, the Chinese Society for Neuro-Oncology (CSNO), the Grupo Interdisciplinario Mexicano de Investigacion en Neuro-Oncologia, the Radiosurgery Society, the Society for NeuroOncology Latin America, the Indian Society of Neuro-Oncology, and the Taiwan Society for Neuro-Oncology (TSNO).
The current editor-in-chief is Jason P. Sheehan (University of Virginia). Previous editors include Joseph M. Piepmeier (Yale University) and Linda M. Liau (David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA).

Chief Editor: Prof. Jason Sheehan
Prof. Jason Sheehan is Professor of Neurological Surgery at UVA.In 2017 Dr. Sheehan was named editor-in-chief of the Journal of Neuro-Oncology, the premier journal for neuro-oncology publications. He has written more than 250 peer-reviewed papers and has published several books and numerous invited manuscripts. He has been serving as reviewer of the top neurological surgery journals. Dr. Sheehan has joined the Focused Ultrasound Foundation as a Senior Advisor for Brain Tumor Research.
